First Impressions
As the plane descended over Goa, the panoramic view of the coastline was mesmerizing. Golden beaches kissed by the turquoise waves of the Arabian Sea stretched endlessly, fringed by lush green palm groves. The warm and inviting scent of the ocean filled the air as I stepped out of the airport, and a sense of excitement tingled through me. Meeting the Locals
Goa’s culture is a unique blend of Indian and Portuguese influences, a legacy of its colonial past. The Churches of Old Goa
My journey took me to Old Goa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to some of the most magnificent churches and cathedrals in India. The Basilica of Bom Jesus, with its baroque architecture, stood majestically amidst the greenery. Inside, the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier were housed in an ornate silver casket, a sight that left me in awe. Fort Aguada
Venturing to the coast, I visited Fort Aguada, a well-preserved 17th-century Portuguese fort. Perched on the Sinquerim Beach, the fort offered stunning views of the Arabian Sea. The lighthouse within the fort, one of the oldest of its kind in Asia, stood as a sentinel over the expansive waters. No trip to Goa would be complete without tasting Feni, the local spirit made from cashew apples or coconut.
