First Impressions
Arriving in Lampang, I was immediately struck by the contrast between its tranquil atmosphere and the hustle and bustle of other Thai cities. The first thing that caught my eye was the city’s historic architecture, especially the beautifully preserved teak wood houses. These structures, some over a century old, tell stories of a bygone era and are a testament to the city’s rich cultural heritage. The cityscape is punctuated by the iconic horse-drawn carriages, a unique mode of transport that has become a symbol of Lampang.
Historical and Cultural Exploration
Wat Phra That Lampang Luang
One of my first stops was the revered Wat Phra That Lampang Luang. This ancient temple, located just outside the city, is one of the oldest wooden temples in Thailand, dating back to the 13th century. Kiu Lom Dam
Another natural gem is the Kiu Lom Dam, located on the Wang River. The dam and its reservoir provide a picturesque setting, especially during sunrise and sunset. Cultural Festivities and Traditions
Lampang Ceramics
Lampang is also famous for its ceramics, a craft that has been passed down through generations. Participating in the water fights along the streets of Lampang was an exhilarating experience. The entire city seemed to come alive with laughter and celebration. Photographing the festivities, I captured moments of pure joy and cultural pride, showcasing the warmth and hospitality of the Lampang people.
